Ways to Help
We Welcome Volunteers!
We occasionally need volunteers to help us, such as cleaning up the trails on our conservation land or opening up Trunk River for the spring herring migration.
If you love the outdoors, you could help us maintain our trails by cutting back invasive vines and shrubs, clearing some of the dead trees blocking the trails or picking up litter. These activities are great for groups that want to volunteer. Contact us to arrange a volunteer activity and help us maintain our trails in perfect shape.
Trunk River Cleanup
Sometimes we need help opening up Trunk River in the spring for the incoming herring migration. This means raking up the gravel and rocks that can narrow the river.
Herring Counting
This is a fun activity and a wonderful way to welcome in spring! At dusk, volunteers stand along the shore of Trunk River and count the number of herring making their way up the river to spawn in Oyster Pond.
If you are interested in any of these activities contact us at info@opet.org.
